Covid-19 update
Added on 13 June 2020
Hello everyone, I have had a lot of enquiries over the last week asking about the date for reopening in Scotland. It is starting to look promising, so here is a quick update, obviously it all depends on the "R" number.
We are currently still in phase 1 of 4 in Scotland, this is “Stay at home, stay within 5 miles”. Yesterday (11th June) Nicola announced that the R number in Scotland is estimated to be between 0.6 and 0.8 and hopes to announce further easing of restrictions next Thursday (18th June), this will be phase 2, small shops can re-open and a few other minor changes.
Phase 3 is the one we are waiting for, offices reopen, museums, cinemas, pubs, shops, hotels, self-catering accommodation, campsites, restaurants and hairdressers can all re-open. Fergus Ewing the Scottish Tourism Secretary announced on the 10th June that hospitality should be preparing to reopen on the 15th July. (Phase 3). The indicative date of 15th July will be confirmed one way or the other on the 9th July.
I am reasonably confident that we will reopen and am busy ordering specialist cleaning materials as recommended by the Association of Scottish Self Caterers to follow their Covid-19 cleaning protocols, writing my risk assessments and revamping my visitor information.
We still have some availability left for this summer, and all my guests who had to cancel were refunded in full although many rescheduled to 2021. For guests who are booked for this July and August, please do NOT pay the balance until after the 9th July when we know for certain that Scotland will be re-opening on the 15th July.
Dolphin View Cottage offers risk-free booking, if you cannot come on holiday due to Covid-19, you will either get a full refund or you can transfer your monies paid to a later date.
Best wishes to you all and stay safe.
